Connectivity Issue affecting Milton Keynes Network
Engineers are aware of a link dropping between our LD5 (Slough) POP and Milton Keynes (MKDC-0) connectivity points for the MKDC-0/MKDC-1 network. As this is a resilient MPLS network, traffic is flowing around the other links thus customers will not currently be affected. The cause is currently being investigated with our upstream supplier and further updates will follow.
Provider engineers are currently on site and splicing is taking place of the damaged fibre cable as of 9:30pm site local time.
Latest update from the provider received today:-
Update 12: Vendor confirmed they have fibre break in their part and they need to splice it.
No ETA for the splicer yet.
Update 11: GTT and vendor are both on site and investigation is ongoing.
We are continuing to await further updates from the provider.
The following updates are directly from the fibre provider GTT whilst this remains ongoing.
Update 9: Slight change in the schedule, ETA to site is 09:30 UTC.
Joint intervention scheduled for 09:00 UTC.
Still no ETA, escalation with provider ongoing.
The upstream provider has located the issue ~150m away from their equipment within a 3rd party datacentre in Slough (Equinix). The datacentre operator has now been engaged for investigation.
We're aware of a potential fibre break which the upstream provider is investigating on their network.
